Lleida-Alguaire airport is completing the works aimed to adapt the infrastructure to the arrival of new tour operators for the coming winter season, when the airport expects to receive 37,000 passengers, 33,000 of which belong to the British company Neilson-Thomas Cook.
The completion of the works, with a € 1,5 million budget, is expected in the first two weeks of November. The redesigning is aimed to expand the operational capacity of the installations and it mainly involves the creation of new areas and the rearrangement of the existing ones. This will allow to meet the operational needs of the tour operators and, in particular, those related to the ski, that implies moving a considerable amount of travellers, with their corresponding luggage, in a short period of time. The main tasks included in the works are: the building of a new check-in area with 6 check-in desks, the installation of two security controls and passport controls, that will double the current capacity, the creation of a new departures area (with a 415 m2 tent, two boarding gates, two coffee bar areas with room for 400 seated people), the building of a new arrivals area (with two baggage claim belts), the installation of a 780 m2 tent at the ground hall (with capacity for 230 seated people) and the adaptation of the car park
